The goal was to build one space that feels energetic and playful during the school day, yet organized and comfortable when the wider community uses it. The layout balances a central destination feature with supporting play zones around it, so the site stays active and engaging without feeling crowded. The program includes a main multi level play unit, a dedicated toddler zone, a climbing wall, and additional play elements.
School and Community Playground
Inside a school campus, this play space was designed to do double duty: it supports active recess and after school use, and it also works as a welcoming community gathering spot beyond school hours. At the heart of the site is a rich, multi level main structure with layered routes and surprises, finished with semi transparent printed panels that bring light, color, and curiosity into every corner.

About the Project and the Process
Highlights/Uniqueness of the Project
• One space with two everyday audiences: school use plus community use outside school hours
• A central feature that draws players in, with multiple levels and a rich variety of routes
• A range of options for different ages: main structure, toddler unit, and additional elements
The site was planned as a set of zones that work together: a central hub for climbing and movement between levels, a calmer toddler area, and open pockets that support sitting and gathering. Element selection focused on variety in movement and pace, including a climbing wall and plus additional play pieces.
The main structure is designed like a story you discover while moving: step up a level, peek through a semi transparent printed panel, cross to the next section, and find a new point of play. The printed panels add depth and atmosphere without closing the structure off, and they help maintain clear sightlines for accompanying adults while keeping the experience visually rich.
