Sea Concept Playground for a Science Park

Psagot Playgrounds created a sea concept playground with a colorful, flowing design language and many small details that bring children into a world of submarines, whales, waves, and adventure.

The project includes a large central play structure with custom prints and themed sea-inspired cladding, alongside a submarine, an adventurous rope whale, a rubber hill, swings, and additional play elements.

The result is a multi-age public playground that combines strong visual storytelling with varied play value.

About the Project and the Process

This sea concept playground was planned as a play environment with a clear story.

Instead of placing separate play elements with no connection between them, the design builds one continuous marine world that links the main structure, the submarine, the rope whale, and the smaller activity elements.

On the central play structure, Psagot Playgrounds integrated custom graphic prints and themed sea-inspired cladding.

This allowed the design to go beyond color selection and become part of the structure itself - through the panels, passages, towers, and façades. Additional play elements continue the same concept, including a submarine, an ocean-themed spring element, a fin-inspired feature, an adventurous rope whale, and other components for movement, climbing, imagination, and active play.

The project creates a designed playground for municipalities and landscape architects, combining public playground planning and execution with a clear, friendly, and easy-to-recognize theme.

Highlights/Uniqueness of the Project

The main strength of this project is the way the sea concept was translated into the details of the playground. The marine theme is not only expressed through the choice of equipment, but also through prints, cladding, colors, forms, and the relationship between the different play zones.

The submarine creates an immediate story point and invites children into a sense of journey and discovery. The rope whale adds a more physical and adventurous layer, with climbing, crossing, movement, and challenge. Together with the rubber hill, swings, and additional play elements, the playground offers many points of interest while keeping one coherent design language.

The project brief focused on creating a sea concept playground with a strong visual identity and a multi-age play experience. The client required the central play structure to be adapted to the marine design language through custom prints and themed cladding. The playground also needed to include a submarine as a key play feature, an adventurous rope whale, and a variety of play opportunities for movement, climbing, imagination, and family use.

During the design phase, the main goal was to create clear play zones while still keeping the feeling of one playground with one story. The playground was planned across three areas, with different elements placed in each area to add depth to the overall experience.

The planning challenge was to connect very different types of play equipment - a tall central structure, a themed submarine, an adventurous rope whale, a rubber hill, and swings - without making the playground feel crowded or visually scattered. The sea concept became the connecting line: it gave each element its own place while maintaining a clear and consistent language across the entire space.

The design is based on the world of the sea. On the central structure, Psagot Playgrounds added custom prints and sea-themed cladding that bring depth, character, and a sense of story to the playground. The printed panels help turn the main play structure into an active part of the concept, rather than a standard structure with decoration added at the end.

The submarine gives the playground a clear and recognizable focal point, while the rope whale introduces a more active and challenging experience. Together with the rubber hill, swings, and additional elements, the playground becomes a place with many discoveries, but still one strong visual direction.

This marine language gives the playground a clear identity. It is not just a playground with equipment, but a place with atmosphere, rhythm, and story - inviting children to explore, climb, imagine, enter the submarine, meet the whale, and continue to the next stop in their adventure.
