Psagot Playgrounds Summary

This robinia playground was created as a public play space for a local municipality, combining natural timber equipment, wide shade coverage, and a variety of play experiences for children. About the Project and the Process

This project included the planning and execution of a robinia playground for a residential neighborhood, with attention to the needs of a municipality responsible for active public play spaces.

Psagot Playgrounds designed the layout around a central timber play unit, supported by additional play elements placed around it to create a clear and functional playground environment. One of the main features of the project is the double hillside slide.

Rather than treating it as a separate standalone element, the slide was integrated into the site’s topography, creating a wide sliding experience that can serve several children at the same time. This use of the slope adds interest to the playground while keeping the overall design simple and easy to understand.

Highlights/Uniqueness of the Project

The main point of interest in this playground is the way the slope was used as part of the play experience. The double hillside slide creates a strong visual and functional focal point, while the robinia play structure adds climbing, sliding, and movement opportunities in the shaded central area.

The combination of robinia timber, green play components, synthetic turf, and a large shade canopy gives the playground a natural yet organized look. The play elements are distributed in a way that supports different types of activity without making the space feel overloaded.

Design Phase

During the design phase, the playground equipment was adapted to the shape of the site and to the overall layout of the play area. The central combined play structure was fully shaded to support more comfortable use throughout the day. The swings, rope hammock, spring rider, and balance beam seesaw were placed around the central structure, giving each activity its own clear space.

The double hillside slide received special attention because it uses the existing site conditions to create a distinctive play feature. This approach adds another layer of activity to a robinia playground, while maintaining a clean and practical layout for a public outdoor environment.

Design Concept

The design language is based on natural robinia timber, green tones, synthetic turf, and shade. The wooden posts, bridges, and towers create a warm and simple appearance, while the green slides and details connect the playground to the surrounding residential environment.

The blue shade canopy adds another layer of color and helps define the central play zone.

Robinia wood was used as a structural and visual part of the playground, not only as a decorative material.
